Day 30 | Winter Sowing

Submitted By, Sis. Donnette Williams

As the winter season began I started to think about how I can prepare myself for the upcoming spring season. It was then that I learned about winter sowing.

Winter sowing is a way to start seeds outside during the winter. You plant your seeds in miniature greenhouses made from recycled plastic containers, and then put them outside in the snow and freezing cold. The seeds are protected from the brutal and harsh elements of the current season because they are placed in a secret place. This allows them at the appropriate time to grow and flourish.  Beloved, when we abide under the shadow of the almighty we are protected. We will experience dark and dreary days. Days when we feel abandoned and neglected. But if we stay in that secret place we will allow the seed that our heavenly father placed inside of us to grow and when the season is over the beauty that God has placed in us will be revealed.

Lenten Prayer

Lord, I thank you for providing your sons and daughters a secret place to abide that will protect us from the storms of life. Help us to be patient and remember that in due season we will behold the beauty of our Lord. In Jesus name, Amen!
