Day 37 | Thou Art With Me

Submitted By, Elder Elaine Hinds

David did not fear walking through dark places or risking death. He was fearless because he had total faith and belief that God would be with him and protect him. Even if we face darkness or death, we too can also believe that God is with us. The Psalm states: Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will not fear. WHY? Because God is with us. God does not come after we experience these dark places. NO is with us as we venture into those dark placesThou art with me.

David trusts the Lord to protect him just like shepherds use the rod and staff to keep the sheep in line and protect them from the danger of wild animals and predators. – thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

As believers, we can be fearless like David- believing that no matter what dangers or dark places we enter, we do not enter by ourselves, because God will protect us as well. –for thou art with me thy rod and thy staff they comfort me

This Psalm reminds us that no matter our situation in life God is our protector. We are in HIS protective care always. God wants to keep us safe. If we read HIS word, we see his promises that he will protect us.

Isiah 41:10 – Fear not, I am with you. Psalm 91:16 God is my refuge in whom I will trust. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble.

There are so many other verses in the Bible that assure us that God is with us so we can be brave knowing that God’s protective hand is embracing us as we continue this journey called life. My sisters and brothers as we see everything around us changing the one thing that we can depend on is God’s unchanging protection.

Lenten Prayer

Father God, we thank you that you are our protector. We thank you that no matter what situations we find ourselves in, you are with us. As we read and meditate on your word, help us to have faith, help us to be fearless as we trust in you. These things we pray in the name Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. AMEN
