Day 10 - Lent 2026
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once
regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, the new creation has come: [a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is
from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry
of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not
counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of
reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were
making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled
to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin [b] for us, so that in him we might
become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:16-21 NIV
Just imagine that there is a ledger in heaven that has kept a record of all of our
transgressions, whether committed by thought, word, or deed. This ledger will be taken
to our trial and used against us to show that we should not go on to glory.
But thanks be to God, He sent His Son to give us a “tabula rasa” (Latin for “blank
slate”), washed in His blood, if we fully embrace Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross and
acknowledge that He rose from the dead and make Him our Lord and Savior. Now that
old ledger is gone, and can’t be used against us. God through His Son made us a new
creation, and as a new creation we see through new eyes as ambassadors of Christ
commissioned in the ministry of reconciliation.
Since God is not a respecter of persons, what He has done for you and me is offered to
all. It is with great joy that we embrace our new life with Christ. As we grow in grace,
our cup runs over and we want to implore the world to reconcile with God, so they can
enjoy this hope and joy of salvation that we have, which the world can’t give and the
world can’t take away. Jesus is the only way, truth and life; no one comes to the Father
except through Him.
Let us pray: Gracious God, I pray that my fellow ambassadors of Christ embrace
our renewal and growth in the Lord. May our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
continue to order our steps, and may we continue to lift Him up, so that He can
draw all men, women and children until Himself, In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
